Babywearing Resources

Local to us here in the Ithaca area?

We are always happy to help with baby carriers and fit checks! Stop by any time to ask a question or have us take a look at your carrier. We find that often we are able to make some minor adjustments to or show you another way to use your existing carrier; we're here to help find a great solution, not just sell you another carrier!

Local babywearing expert, Danielle Scofield, holds the free babywearing meetup in our Community Room every 3rd Tuesday of the month! See our calendar page for details. This a great time to explore a new-to-you carrier or get help with a carrier that you have.

Babywearing International - Their mission is to promote babywearing as a universally accepted practice, with benefits for both child and caregiver, through education and support. The heart of BWI is the network of local chapters which provide free educational meetings and support within their own communities. All BWI chapters are led by Volunteer Babywearing Educators (VBEs) with extensive knowledge of different types of baby carriers and babywearing safety, and Chapter Support Volunteers (CSVs) that aid the chapter in non-educational tasks. While Babywearing International chapters do not sell or endorse specific brands of baby carriers, most chapters maintain lending libraries so that members and attendees can try a variety of carriers to determine what meets their individual needs.

The Baby Wearer - Great site with forums and carrier reviews.

Sling Rings - Find rings for slings and patterns to make your own sling.

Baby Carrier Industry Alliance (BCIA) - Their mission is to propagate standards across the industry, promote educational outreach, participate in research, and help small businesses comply with standards. Great resources for consumers too!
