Thirsties Hemp Prefolds... probably the best thing to happen to prefolds! Of all prefolds available, Thirsties prefolds are quickly becoming a favorite because of their smart design and fabric. They are 55% hemp, which compared to cotton, is more durable, trimmer, 25% more absorbent, stretchy, and softer (think soft t-shirt). These prefolds are only two layers thick, which means they wash up better and dry more quickly than thicker prefolds (and you can line dry)! They are sewn in a loop, which means that if you fold into thirds, you actually get 12 layers of hemp! So, super absorbent, but thin layers. How can you use Thirsties hemp prefolds? You will be truly be amazed that you reach for these for just about any of your diapering systems:

How to prepare for first use
Because bamboo/cotton retains its natural oils, it's important to remove this waxy outer fiber layer before using them for the first time.  We recommend washing them with hot sudsy water and drying them in the dryer at least three times before their first use. (That's wash - dry - wash - dry - wash - dry).  To test if they're ready to use, make a pocket in the diaper and pour half a cup of water into it.  If the water is not readily absorbed, then they should be washed and dried more. Thirsties fitted diapers will be fully absorbent by about 8 washes/dries.
We recommend washing your Thirsties fitteds by themselves during this break-in period (or with other diapers that also need to have these oils removed).  This will reduce pilling and prevent the oils from the bamboo/cottom from coating other diapers, causing them to repel water, rather than absorb it.
