"You are such a wonderful company. I was a newbie to cloth 6 months ago and every time I have needed help, you have been there. Even now... I can call and you patiently help me with whatever I ask. You take time for the customer and so many companies don't do that any more. You are definitely a company that I have recommended and will continue to recommend to others for all their baby needs. Thanks so much Jillian's Drawers."

Choosing Cloth DiapersChoosing the right diapers for you, your baby, and your budget can be intimidating! We have a great cloth diaper tutorial which can help you sort through the different types of cloth diapers. Click here to see the tutorial. If you still have questions, don't hesitate to give us call! We know that toys can be safely made in any country. However, we also know that if a country does not allow lead-based paint to be imported into the country, then it would be nearly impossible for a toy to be accidentally painted with lead-based paint. Therefore, we choose to carry HABA toys, which are made in Germany. Our Maple Landmark toys are made in Vermont, USA. Our wooden kitchens from Willow Toys are made in the USA and coated with non-toxic, Lavender Natural Wood Finish. Want to share this page? We will complete a full checklist of CSPIA compliant products in the weeks to come.Has your business changed due to the CSPIA?Actually, no. When the Consumer Safety Protection Improvement Act was introduced in August of 2008 and enforced in February of 2009, many businesses were forced to stop selling products that include lead or phthalates. This became costly for businesses, since most businesses were forced to clearance products before the change took effect, and then change the products they sold. However, since we first opened Jillian's Drawers, we have always put babies, parents, and families first. Before we ever offered a new product, we asked our manufacturers the details behind their products. Were their products made with lead? Were they made with phthalates? Are any fabrics treated with formaldehyde? How are their workers treated? Do they employ parents? Do the women have maternity leave and breastfeeding breaks? So, once the CSPIA has been introduced, very little has actually changed with our own business! Our manufacturers' products passed the CSPIA's new testing requirements with flying colors! We have not needed to throw away or discontinue any products! Have all your products been tested by a CSPIA certified laboratory for lead and phthalates? No. Is this bad? No. This is where we are very lucky to have never carried dangerous products. Although some of our products have not been tested, they actually exceed the requirements of the CSPIA.As of February 10, 2009, the new CSPIA does NOT require products to be tested. However, it does require all products sold to meet the testing requirements. Sound confusing? What the act is trying to do is give more time to companies to complete testing. For example, our Ecobaby mattresses have not been tested by a CSPIA certified laboratory. However, Ecobaby has independently been testing their mattresses to meet higher restrictions for years. It will take some time for every component within the mattress to be tested by a certified laboratory. And the CSPIA is giving manufacturers until February 10, 2010 to test. In the meantime, Ecobaby can continue selling their mattresses, because they know that they meet the CSPIA requirements. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call us! We are more than happy to answer any questions on this matter! Want to share this page? If any items are out of stock, and you decide to place them on backorder, then we will wait and charge your credit for the out of stock items when they are ready to ship. http://www.jilliansdrawers.com/customerservice/faqs/choosingclothdiapers It Looks As Though My Credit Card Was Charged TwiceSometimes it looks as though we have charged a credit card twice, when the first "charge" is actually an "authorization" and the second charge is the actual charge for the order. What is an "authorization"?When you check out, your credit card is authorized for the order total. This is just a verification that there are enough funds in your account for the order. Your available balance will be reduced to accommodate the order, but the funds have actually not been transferred to us.Why does this happen? When a customer checks out with a credit card, the credit card is authorized at that time. We do not charge the credit card right then, because many customers call to add or change their order. So, we prefer to wait until the order is actually shipping out before we charge the card. Some banks will treat this first authorization as a charge. Within 2-3 business days, the authorization will disappear from your statement, and just the final charge will remain. How can I have the authorization removed? The authorization should disappear from your account on its own within 2-3 days (the time depends on your bank). If you would like to have it removed before that time, you should be able to call your bank and have them remove the authorization.Want to share this page? We also have a great cloth diaper detergent guide here.Want to share this page? Just use this link: http://www.jilliansdrawers.com/customerservice/faqs/howtowashclothdiapers How to Strip Cloth DiapersWhat is Build-Up?Build up means your diapers have a film coating on the fibers. You will notice this because they may come out of the washer and dryer smelling and will lose some absorbency. Pocket diapers and All In Ones that worked great when new may begin leaking. Don't worry! It's easy to strip them! How can I tell if my cloth diapers have build-up?If your diapers are smelling, repelling, or wicking, then chances are that the detergent is building up. Diapers may also be smelling due to bacteria, in which case stripping them will not remove the bacteria. Instead, we recommend using 1/4 cup bleach with one load. When do I need to strip my cloth diapers? To keep cloth diapers working their best, we recommend stripping them once a month. If a cloth diaper incompatible detergent has been used, then we recommend stripping all your diapers twice, and then switching to a compatible detergent. How do I strip my cloth diapers?Start with clean diapers. Use 1 capful of Sensi-Clean on a warm cycle to strip your cloth diapers (use 1/2 capful for HE washing machines). For cloth diapers with a lot of build-up, repeat. Then rinse your diapers to remove any Sensi-Clean residue. Dry on medium heat.Sensi-Clean (also labelled as Sports-Wash) is biodegradable and is made from vegetable based surfactants. A very small percentage of babies are allergic to Sensi-Clean and will develop a severe rash after its use. For this reason, remember to rinse the diapers and watch your baby's bottom closely for any reaction. Alternatively, you can use 1/16 - 1/8 cup of Dawn Original dish detergent instead, although we have not found this method to be nearly as effective. Want to share this page?
